WELCOME, STUDENTS AND PARENTS!
I'm very excited to be teaching language arts to the Ravens in the morning this year! In the afternoon, Ms. Weis will be teaching language arts to the Ravens. We're sharing the position, because Ms. Weis just had her second child and I have begun a Masters in Library Science full time. My eventual plan is to become a school media librarian and have a library of my own, where I can help inspire kids to find books that excite them.
This is my seventh year teaching language arts to middle schoolers and my second year at Westport. I taught my first five years at TT Knight Middle School. I am thrilled to be here at Westport! I love working with young people in the areas of reading and writing, and can't wait for this year to take off!
This year we will be working in our SpringBoard books, where students will find a variety of challenging material. We will write personal essays and persuasive pieces, along with on demand and ORQ practices. We will work hard to read and write on grade level, so that every child will be prepared for high school next year.
